DONATE NOW

The work we do here at Folly Wildlife Rescue is first class, but without Government or lottery funding, it is challenging to meet all the costs involved. A one-off donation towards our work really does make a tremendous difference and is directed straight into supporting our work for wildlife

Gift Aid

Adding Gift Aid to your donation means that, for every £1 you give, Folly Wildlife Rescue can claim 25p from HMRC at no additional cost to you. So, for every £10 you give, we will be able to reclaim a further £2.50 from HMRC.

That means for every £100 we receive in Gift Aid donations, we will be able to reclaim a further £25 from HMRC. which will go a long way to providing the care and rehabilitation to the sick, injured and orphaned animals we see on a daily basis.

Become a Friend of Folly

Becoming a Friend of Folly is a simple but effective way of supporting our work day-to-day and protecting our future for years to come.

In common with other wildlife rescue centres, Folly receives no government or lottery funding for its work, relying on donations, grants, legacies, and its own fundraising activities.

Only recently, at the end of 2023, Folly faced closure for the first time in its history. With costs exceeding £25,000 per month, combined with increasing costs and a downturn in legacies, we were devastated and saddened to face the reality of closing our doors. A campaign was launched, and incredibly, over £350,000 was raised.

Our immediate future is now secure, but we must move away from a reliance on legacies and focus on growing our membership model, that is the Friend of Folly scheme. This gives us the financial stability we need every month to carry on our vital work.

And it isn’t expensive – you can become a Friend of Folly for as little as £5 a month, but if you can give more, it would be very welcome indeed – many of our Friends donate £10, £20 (and sometimes more!) every month.

Set up a standing order now to become a Friend of Folly!

A legacy is a long-lasting gift and costs you nothing during your lifetime.

Additionally, money bequeathed to a registered charity is not taxable.

If you do choose to leave a bequest to the Trust, large or small, you will be helping us to continue our important work, not just now, but also in the years to come.

We strongly advise that you consult a solicitor when drawing up a Will, as failure to do this correctly could invalidate your wishes. If you already have a Will but now wish to include the Trust, it’s a simple matter to amend the existing one by adding a codicil.

There are several forms of legacies you may wish to consider:

Residuary legacy

A residuary legacy is the gift of the remainder of your estate (or a percentage of the remainder) after all other gifts to friends and family have been distributed and all outgoings have been dealt with. A residuary legacy is generally of the greatest benefit to the charity as its value increases in line with inflation.

Pecuniary legacy

A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money. It is worth noting that pecuniary legacies tend to decrease in value over time due to rises in inflation and need to be reviewed in order to maintain their original intended value.

Specific legacy

A specific legacy refers to a particular item of value that has been left in your Will, for example stock and shares, property, life insurance policies, land or jewellery.

The following information will be useful when you draw up your Will:

The Trust’s official title: The Southern Wildlife Care & Advisory Trust / The Folly Wildlife Rescue Trust
