Working for Wildlife in Kent & Sussex

Without your help, we can’t help them. Donate now so we can continue providing care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.

Our Story

Folly Wildlife Rescue Trust is a charity dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife in West Kent, East Sussex and the surrounding region.

We run a dedicated wildlife hospital providing specialist care and treatment, whilst remaining committed to raising awareness about the plight of our wildlife and what you can do to help.

If you have found an injured, orphaned or distressed animal, please contact us on 01892 543213 or click here to read our out of hours advice.

If you are based outside of our catchment area, please refer to Help Wildlife for a directory of wildlife rescues throughout the UK or contact your local vet.

A Dedication to Our Founders

Folly Wildlife Rescue was founded by Annette and Dave Risley in 1993 in their home and back garden at ‘Folly Cottage’.

What began with the hand-rearing of one orphaned baby hedgehog, grew year-on-year to helping thousands more animals.

Recognised for their compassion, dedication and life-long commitment to animals, Folly faced difficult times following the untimely loss of both Annette and Dave in 2021 and 2023. Both were highly regarded in the field and took with them unmeasurable amounts of knowledge and experience.

Now in the hands of their two daughters and enveloped in support, Folly Wildlife Rescue continues to be inspired and motivated by the achievements of its founders, with their primary focus on continuing this wonderful legacy.

We first got to know Jilly in 2004 when we were called to assist with a fallow deer she had rescued after it had been caught on a wire fence on the Ashdown Forest. Jilly also enjoys getting hands on with our work, volunteering to give us an extra pair of hands during the busy season!”

Following the success of our patron Jeff Beck's UK tour, featuring his good friend Johnny Depp, and Johnny's visit to Folly Wildlife Rescue in May 2022 to see for himself the Trust's work with wildlife, we are delighted that Johnny has done us the great honour of agreeing to become a patron.
